Christian Smit

Christian Smit has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Christian'smost recent position at Canon Production Printing, starting in 2021, involved leading the Chemical Analysis Cluster in Research and Development. Christian'sresponsibilities included long-term strategy planning, coaching employees, stakeholder management, and resource/budget management. Christian also introduced the 6-sigma way of working into their cluster.

Prior to this role, Christian worked at Canon Production Printing as a Lead Technologist from 2018 to 2021. In this position, they led projects utilizing Six Sigma and Cadence tools, managed resources and risks, and supervised and trained employees.

Before joining Canon, Christian worked at Oc\u00e9 - A Canon Company from 2012 to 2018. Christian served as a Technicum Coordinator and later as a Lead Technologist, leading teams, coaching and training employees, and performing strategic road-mapping and resource planning. Christian also managed external collaborations.

Christian's career started at Agilent Technologies as an Inside Sales representative in 2011. Christian also pursued a PhD in Bio-organic Chemistry at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen from 2005 to 2010, focusing on the synthesis and application of flavin-based oxidation catalysts. Christian also worked as a Supervisor in the analytical department of chemistry labs at Rijkuniversiteit Groningen and had a contract synthesis project at Unilever in 2004.

Christian Smit holds a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Groningen, completed from 1996 to 2003. Additionally, they have obtained various certificates in fields such as General Project Management, Coaching, and Leading in Practice from different institutions including Cadence Project Management, Strobbe ontwikkeling, and vanHarte&Lingsma. In 2016, they also completed a Green Belt certification in Six Sigma.
