Charles Shields

Charles Shields has a diverse work experience in accounting and financial management. Charles currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer at Canopy Health since November 2021. Prior to this, they served as the VP - Controller at Canopy Health from October 2020 to November 2021. Before joining Canopy Health, they were the owner of CMS3 Counsulting, LLC, where they brought over 20 years of experience in accounting and financial management. In this role, they gained industry experience in healthcare and insurance specialties, including acute care hospitals, health plans, and insurance companies. During their career, Charles also held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, Greater El Monte Community Hospital, and Promise Hospital of East Los Angeles. Additionally, they served as the Controller at Marina del Rey hospital and Downey Regional Medical Center. Prior to that, they were the Director of Accounting at Care 1st Healthplan and the Controller at Triangle Distributing. Charles began their career as an Audit Manager at PacifiCare.

Charles Shields earned their MBA in Corporate Finance from Bentley University - McCallum Graduate School of Business, where they attended from 1998 to 2001. Prior to that, from 1991 to 1995, they obtained a BS in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
