Burcu Gacal has worked in a variety of roles since 2005. Burcu began as an M.Sc. Student at Memorial University of Newfoundland and then worked as a Geologist for Petro-Canada in 2008. In 2010, they worked as an M.Sc. GeoScientist - Software Consultant for Schlumberger Information Solutions and as a Geologist for BP. In 2020, they began working for Canvas GFX as the VP Systems Engineering and Customer Success. Burcu then became the Senior Director of Systems Engineering and Customer Success at Canvas GFX, where they were responsible for presenting pre-sales technical demonstrations, strategizing business meetings to close sales deals, and ensuring clear communication across all activities of the customers' post-sale journey. Burcu also provided custom product demonstrations using 3D CAD models, GIS Data sets, vector, and raster graphic illustrations while emphasizing the specific use cases based on clients' interest. Additionally, they delivered customized or standard product training across all levels at the customer's organization with and customized contents. Finally, they interacted with customers to troubleshoot issues, track their tickets, and provide necessary workarounds, using Freshdesk and Zoho Desk (CRM tools). Burcu also identified and created new datasets, demonstrations, and demo scripts for customer-based use cases, with a focus on business value and differentiation.
Burcu Gacal obtained their M.Sc in Petroleum Geology from Memorial University of Newfoundland between 2006 and 2009. Burcu also completed their studies in Geological/Geophysical Engineering from Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi between 1999 and 2004.
