Mark Kovacs, PhD, FACSM, CSCS has a diverse and extensive work experience. Currently, they hold the role of Vice President of Health & Performance at Canyon Ranch, a position they started in September 2023. Prior to this, they were the CEO and Institute Director of the Kovacs Institute since October 2016. In this role, they offered exclusive services to elite individuals, focusing on optimizing their success in business, sport, and lifestyle through the latest performance sciences. Mark also served as the Lead Physiological Consultant for ATP Tour, Inc. starting from July 2013. Additionally, Kovacs has held advisory and mentor roles at various organizations including Comcast, Boomtown Accelerators, DEFY, aescape, and the WTA. Notably, they played a key role as the Executive Director of the International Tennis Performance Association (ITPA), where they developed the first tennis-specific physical training education and certification association. Throughout their career, Kovacs has been involved in the field of sport science, providing expert advice and guidance in areas such as health and safety protocols, technology and innovation, and performance optimization.
Mark Kovacs obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Auburn University in 2002. Mark then earned a Master of Education degree in Exercise Physiology from Auburn University in 2004. In 2007, they completed their Ph.D. in Human Performance (Exercise Physiology) from The University of Alabama. In 2013, they also received a certification in Finance For Non-Financial Managers from Emory University - Goizueta Business School. Additionally, Mark Kovacs holds several certifications including Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. Mark also has certifications in tennis performance.
