Dave Stewart's work experience begins in 1992 when they worked as an SBR Process Engineer at Aqua-Aerobic Systems, INC. Dave was responsible for the process application design of sequencing batch reactors and other equipment. In 1994, they transitioned to Adams & Clark / Datum Pacific, Inc. as a Project Manager, where they worked until 1998.

In 1998, Dave joined CDM Smith as a Principal Environmental Engineer, where they were involved in municipal client management, with a focus on water and wastewater facilities planning, design, construction, and operation. Dave also served as a Group Leader, managing the environmental engineering and technical support staff in Eastern Pennsylvania from 2004 to 2009. Dave's tenure at CDM Smith ended in 2013 when they became a Client Service Manager.

Since 2013, Dave has been working at Capital Region Water. Dave started as the Director of Engineering, responsible for managing capital improvements for drinking water, combined sewer, sanitary, and stormwater systems. Dave is currently involved in various projects related to compliance, improvement plans, and infrastructure upgrades. In 2023, they transitioned to the role of Chief Technical Officer.
