Les Barker, IGP has a diverse range of work experience. Les started their career at INTRIA in 2005 as a Senior Records Clerk, where they were responsible for various records management duties and investigating banking errors. From 2006 to 2008, Les worked as an Office Manager at Airdrie Canvas. In 1993, they joined CIBC as a Records Supervisor, where they supervised over 20 employees, managed records, and supervised the Mail Room. Les held this position until 2008. In 2009, Les became the Manager of Records, Contracts and Land Management at Capital Power Corporation. Les currently holds the role and is responsible for overseeing these areas. In 2013, Les became a Member of the Board of Directors and later served as the President of Hairsine Community League. Les was actively involved in decision-making, policy review, and ensuring compliance with bylaws and policies. In 2019, Les took up the role of Sports Director at CGSA, where they represent the views, ideas, and needs of the community club, facilitates communication between coaches and the board, and coordinates with other coaches.

Les Barker, IGP has a diverse education history spanning different fields and institutions. In 1987, Les Barker completed high school at Rothwell Osnabruck High School. Following this, from 1991 to 1993, Les attended Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, where they obtained a degree in Child & Youth Worker with a field of study focused on Youth Services/Administration.

In 2009, Les pursued further education at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) and earned a certificate in ERecords & Information Management. This certificate program centered around Management Information Systems, General.

Les continued their professional development and in 2013, completed a SharePoint For Records Management Certificate program at ARMA International, specializing in Records Management. Furthermore, Les participated in another program at ARMA International in 2022, achieving the Information Governance Professional (IGP) degree with a field of study focused on Records Management.

Additionally, Les has obtained two certifications. In July 2009, Les achieved the ERecords & Information Management certification, and in January 2021, completed the "15 Secrets Successful People Know about Time Management (getAbstract Summary)" certification program offered by LinkedIn.
