Clay Craig has a diverse work experience in the mining and resource industry. Clay is currently serving as the Director of Mining and Strategic Planning at Capstone Copper since September 2022. Prior to this, Clay held the position of Manager of Mining and Evaluations at the same company from October 2020 to September 2022. Clay also worked as the Mine Technical Services Superintendent at Pinto Valley Mine, a subsidiary of Capstone Copper, from June 2017 to October 2020.
Before joining Capstone Copper, Clay worked as a Consulting Geological Engineer and Associate at Moose Mountain Technical Services from November 2016 to May 2017. Prior to this, they were the Director of Resource Geology at Waterton Global Resource Management, Inc. from September 2015 to October 2016. Clay was responsible for managing resource geology at the firm, which had over $1.5 billion in capital commitments.
Clay has also gained extensive experience in their previous roles. Clay served as a Consulting Geological Engineer and Associate at Moose Mountain Technical Services from November 2014 to August 2015. Clay worked as a Senior Resource Modeler at AMEC from December 2010 to September 2014 and as a Geostatistician Specialist at Newmont Mining Corporation from April 2007 to December 2010. Clay also held the position of Senior Mine Engineer at Kinross Gold Corporation from October 2004 to April 2007 and served as a Mine Engineer and Chief Open Pit Engineer at North American Palladium Ltd. from July 2003 to September 2004. Clay started their career at Imperial Metals Corporation and held various engineering and geology roles from September 1994 to June 2003.
Clay Craig obtained a degree in Geological Engineering (with a focus on Mineral Exploration and Geotechnical) from The University of British Columbia. Clay attended the university from 1989 to 1994.
