Jon Lockley is the Director of Advanced Research Computing at Cardiff University, a position held since February 2023. Previously, Lockley served as Deputy Chief Information Officer and Head of Scientific Computing at The Institute of Cancer Research from 2011 to February 2023, overseeing the development of research computing services, including high performance computing and scientific software support. Prior to this role, Lockley managed the Oxford Supercomputing Centre from May 2002 to February 2011, focusing on service provision and user training. Lockley began a career in research as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Southampton from December 1996 to May 2002, contributing software for the European Space Agency's INTEGRAL mission. Lockley holds a BSc in Astrophysics from Cardiff University and a PhD from Keele University, with research concentration on interacting binary stars.
