Michael Johnson

Senior Managing Director at CARF International

Michael Johnson has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Michael started their career as a Drug & Alcohol Abuse Control Technician in the United States Air Force in 1980. Later, they served as the Director of Medical Services at The Center for Drug-Free Living from 1989 to 1998. Michael then worked as a Senior Clinical Consultant at CMHC Systems, providing consulting services to behavioral healthcare organizations implementing electronic clinical records from 1998 to 2005. Following this, they served as the Director of Administrative Services at the Suncoast Center for Community Mental Health from 2005 to 2007. Michael then became the Chief Operating Officer at DeKalb Community Service Board, a provider of behavioral health, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities treatment services, from 2007 to 2011. After that, they worked as the Assistant Director at Fresno County Department of Behavioral Health, providing strategic and operational oversight to all areas of the department from 2011 to 2013. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Managing Director at CARF, where they are responsible for planning and executing the organization's strategic business activities related to accreditation programs in the Behavioral Health accreditation area.

Michael Johnson began their education at the University of Central Florida in 1990, where they pursued a B.A. in Interpersonal Communications. Michael completed this degree in 1993. Following their undergraduate studies, Michael obtained a certification in Addiction Counseling from the Florida Certification Board in June 1991. Later, in 1996, they enrolled again at the University of Central Florida, this time to pursue an M.A. in Communications. Michael successfully completed this program in 1998.
