Jerome Benton has a long and varied career in the technology industry. In 1998, they began their career as Manager of Network Engineering at Level 3 Communications, where they were responsible for designing and implementing processes for a telecommunications startup. Jerome then moved to Service Metrics as Director of Network Operations in 1999, where they designed and implemented a Network Operations Center in Boulder, CO. In 2000, they became Director of Quality and Release Engineering at Exodus Communications, transitioning from Service Metrics and responsible for global network elements from Frankfurt, Germany, to Tokyo, Japan. In 2002, they moved to New Edge Networks as Manager of Network Engineering, responsible for designing and sustaining engineering for data communications networks. In 2004, they joined AlterPoint as Senior Network Engineer, responsible for developing and testing new network services for network configuration and change management. In 2006, they moved to JTSI - Prosis as Senior Network Engineer, located in Baghdad, Iraq, and responsible for designing and sustaining engineering for the Iraqi Defense Network. In 2008, they returned to AT&T as Network Architect, where they were the lead engineer for the transition to IPv6 project. In 2013, they joined AT&T Labs as a Data Scientist and Principal Member of Technical Staff, where they designed and implemented processes and layouts for complex, large-scale data sets. In 2018, they became a Data Science Fellow at General Assembly, performing visual and statistical analysis on data using Python and its associated libraries and tools. Jerome also joined Carfeine as Director of Data Science, Research, and Development, where they designed, built, and directed the research and development department of an AI-based digital marketing software platform.
Jerome Benton obtained their BS in Mathematics and Computer Science from Union College. In 2018, they completed a Data Science Immersive program from General Assembly and a MicroMasters in Data Science from edX. In 1989-1991, they attended the Information Systems Management Program at General Electric, Industrial & Power Systems, focusing on Computer Science. Jerome also obtained a Statistical Process Control certification from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1992.
