Gilles van Rompaey

Gilles Van Rompaey, PhD, currently serves as Business Development Manager at Carmeuse, specializing in sustainable solutions for waste and by-product streams in building materials development. Previously, Gilles held the position of Business Unit Manager Minerals at ABO Global Trading nv, focusing on the valorization and upcycling of industrial by-products. Prior experience includes leadership roles at Carmeuse in construction product development and project management, as well as engineering positions at Holcim and FEBELCEM, where Gilles completed a PhD in Materials Science. Early career experience includes research at the Royal Observatory of Belgium and the Université libre de Bruxelles. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Materials Science and a Master in Geochemistry & Applied Mineralogy, both from the Université libre de Bruxelles.
