Stephen Weil, plant health care (PHC) manager, joined Carolina Tree Care in April of 2020. Along with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Michigan Technological University, Stephen is a certified arborist with the tree risk assessment qualification (TRAQ) through the International Society of Arboriculture. He also has the tree and plant appraisal qualification (TPAQ) from the American Society of Consulting Arborists and is a licensed pesticide applicator in North and South Carolina.
Plant health care is like being a detective for Stephen. He enjoys the challenge of figuring out what’s wrong with a tree and determining the best solution. Stephen believes trees are critical to our health and the environment, so he wants to preserve as many as he can.
Treating trees is Stephen’s way of helping people. His duties as PHC manager include monitoring, diagnosing, and treating PHC issues, educating clients and coworkers on PHC topics, and establishing the overall direction of the PHC department. He enjoys providing high-quality, science-based PHC treatments to improve the health of sick trees. He also loves that his job lets him work outside.
