Gary Lopez

Gary L. has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2013 when they were an Intern Lab Tech at USAMRIID, US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases. During their time there, they assisted in the development of immunoassays and cell-based assays, as well as expression, production, purification, and characterization of recombinant yeast and bacterial proteins. Gary also trained coworkers in the use of systems to purify proteins and antibodies.

In 2015, Gary L. became a Business Owner at Rico's Chicken & Coffee, where they grew the business to gross $25K in monthly sales within the first year of opening. Gary was in charge of inventory and employee management time, and was responsible for ensuring the facility was up-to-date with regulatory demands and that all business administrative tasks were met.

From 2016 to 2019, Gary L. worked at Booz Allen Hamilton, beginning as an Associate and progressing to Senior Consultant and Consultant, with a career pause in college.

In 2019, Gary L. became the Chief Technology Officer at CarrTech LLC.

Most recently, in 2021, Gary L. began working as a Software Engineer II at Microsoft. Additionally, in 2020, they were an Affiliate at the University of Maryland, where they taught the reversing engineering portion of Reverse Engineering and Hardware Security Laboratory (ENEE459B).

Gary L. obtained a Master's degree in Cyber Security from Hood College between 2017 and 2020. Gary also obtained two Bachelor's degrees from Hood College, in Computer Science and Biochemistry, between 2013 and 2017. In addition, Gary has obtained various certifications from institutions such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate (2020), Amazon Web Services SysOps Administrator - Associate (2019), Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity 301 (2019), Exploiting Real Time Operating Systems (2018), and Hardware Hacking Workshop (2018).
