Casandra Sowash has extensive work experience in various scientific and research roles. Casandra started their career as a Quality Control Technician at Enviro Tech in 2009, where they were responsible for creating and testing new product formulations and ensuring consistency in raw materials and finished products. In 2010, they worked as a Quality Assurance Technician at SunOpta, analyzing product batches and performing microbiological plating.
Casandra then moved on to work as an In Process Cheese Technician at Hilmar Cheese Company, where they performed microbiological testing and analyzed in-process products. In 2011, Casandra joined Anaerobe Systems as a Process Technician, aiding in the formulation of specialty media for medical diagnostics.
Casandra's research experience includes working as a Research Assistant at Santa Clara University, where they designed and executed experiments and collaborated with a team on project ideas. Casandra also worked as a Volunteer Research Assistant at San Jose State University, synthesizing and characterizing semiconductor quantum dots.
Casandra's analytical chemistry experience includes roles at Light Polymers and Alkermes. At Light Polymers, they analyzed physical, chemical, and material properties of synthesized polymers, performed high-throughput data sampling, and maintained data collection and analysis. At Alkermes, they were an Analytical Chemist, performing routine testing of pharmaceutical products, shortening turnaround time for sample release testing, and serving as a Safety Coordinator.
Most recently, Casandra worked as an Information Scientist at CAS, where they applied their scientific expertise to support various information management initiatives.

Casandra Sowash pursued their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry at Santa Clara University from 2012 to 2015. Subsequently, from 2015 to 2017, they attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they obtained their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Physical Chemistry.
