Aki Shibuya

Aki Shibuya has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Starting in 2013, Aki worked as a Tutor at JC Education while also serving as a Temporary Operations Assistant at Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy. In 2014, Aki continued in a temporary role as an Operations Assistant at the same organization. From 2015 to 2017, Aki took on the position of Membership & Communications Associate at Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy. Aki then moved on to the Technology Association of Grantmakers, where they were an Emerging Leader from 2020 to 2021. Aki also held the roles of Operations & Membership Manager at Washington Women's Foundation from 2017 to 2021 and as a Board Member at NTEN from 2019 onwards. In 2021, Aki was recognized as a 2021 Emerging Leader at the U.S.-Japan Council. Aki's most recent work experience includes positions at the University of Washington as a Guest Lecturer in 2023, as well as positions at NTEN starting in 2022, where they served as a Nonprofit Tech Readiness Advisor and then as a Course Developer and Instructor. Aki is currently working at Casey Family Programs as the Sr. Director of Business Solutions, a role they started in 2023.

Aki Shibuya has a diverse educational background. In 2007, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from Grinnell College. During their undergraduate education, they also took part in a study abroad program at the University of Cape Town in 2010, where they studied History, African Studies, and Xhosa.

Continuing their academic pursuits, Aki pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Southeast Asian Studies from SOAS, University of London, which they completed in 2014.

In 2011, Aki obtained a Certificate of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Payap University. Additionally, they obtained a Peer Mediation certification from the Iowa Mediation Service in 2008.

Most recently, Aki completed their Master of Science (MS) degree in Information Management from the University of Washington in 2021.
