Seth Collings Hawkins is an accomplished associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wake Forest University, also serving as affiliate faculty in the Department of Anthropology. In addition to academic roles, Hawkins functions as a medical advisor for the Student Conservation Association and holds the position of medical director for the National Association for Search and Rescue. With a strong background in emergency medicine, Hawkins is an emergency physician at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Catawba Valley Health System. Leadership roles include serving as board chair and founder of both the Appalachian Center for Wilderness Medicine and the Appalachian Mountain Rescue Team. Educational qualifications include a BA in Anthropology from Yale University and an MD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, along with ongoing graduate studies in Applied Medical Anthropology and Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
