Brian Smith has extensive work experience in various organizations and roles. Brian worked for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City from 2015 to 2018, where they served as the Parish Engagement Coordinator and later as the Director of Parish Engagement. In this role, they raised awareness, provided resources, and assisted in training for Catholic Charities' programs. Brian also coordinated archdiocesan events and fundraising activities.
Prior to that, Brian worked at the Center for Learning and Leadership from 2012 to 2015 as the Self-Advocacy Partners Coordinator. Here, they coordinated activities for the Oklahoma Self-Advocacy Network and trained individuals with disabilities in advocacy and leadership. Brian also co-coordinated a national conference for people with disabilities and professionals.
Before their role at the Center for Learning and Leadership, Brian worked at the Dale Rogers Training Center from 2010 to 2012 as a Research and Advertising Assistant. In this position, they changed the perception of people with developmental disabilities and promoted their capabilities through social media and press releases. Brian also represented the agency at events to encourage more individuals and businesses to contract with and purchase products from the agency.
Brian's earlier work experience includes internships at Sunbeam Family Services, Platinum Floor Care, Crosby-Volmer International Communications, and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
Brian Smith earned a Master's Degree in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from Oklahoma City University, completing their studies from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they attended The University of Kansas from 2005 to 2010, where they graduated with a degree in Journalism with a focus on Public Relations and Marketing. Brian completed their high school education at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School from 2001 to 2005.
