Tom van Herwijnen

Tom van Herwijnen is an experienced professional in global security and safeguarding management, currently serving as the Senior Global Security & Safeguarding Manager and Health, Safety & Security Manager at CBM International since February 2009. At CBM, Tom coordinates security risk management to ensure access and program continuity in high-risk countries, while also overseeing staff health and safety during international travel. Previous roles include Strategic Analyst and Security Manager, where Tom analyzed global trends and recommended strategic adaptations, and Regional Director for Central East Asia, managing operations in multiple countries. Prior experience includes serving as Program Director for SERVE Afghanistan, managing diverse projects, and as Project Manager for Light for the World, overseeing disability and development initiatives. Tom holds an MSc in Development Economics from Wageningen University & Research and a BSc in International Trade from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences.
