Martyn Thomas

Martyn Thomas is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in the financial technology sector. Currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at Cboe Global Markets since March 2017, Martyn was a founding developer at BATS Europe, contributing to the development of multiple trading platforms. With a specialization in real-time C++ programming and in-depth knowledge of market mechanisms, order entry, and financial protocols, Martyn has held senior roles at organizations such as BATS Chi-X Europe and BATS Trading, where notable projects included converting a US trading system for the European market and developing a post-trade clearing system. Prior industry experience includes positions as Technical Lead at Lehman Brothers, Associate Director at Bear Stearns & Co., and Principal Systems Engineer at Fidessa. Martyn holds a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Surrey and an M.Sc. in Software Engineering from Bournemouth University.
