John Oldenquist MS, MBA has a diverse work experience, primarily in the healthcare sector. John started their career in 1993 as a Program Specialist at the Mississippi State Department of Education, managing state program audits and ensuring compliance with federal guidelines.

In 1999, they joined the Maryland State Department of Education as a Staff Specialist, Sr. Staff, where they continued to oversee state program audits and developed training courses and manuals.

Moving into the healthcare industry, John joined Johns Hopkins University in 2001 as a Sr. Research Coordinator/Administrative Manager in the Division of Cardiology. John managed a team of administrative staff and budget analysts, while also handling financial transactions for various operations and grants.

From 2005 to 2007, John served as the SR. Finance Manager in the School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. John was responsible for the financial management of two divisions, including analyzing complex financial data and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

In 2007, they transitioned to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where they held several roles over the years. John started as a Service Line Manager for the Heart Institute, overseeing daily operations and collaborating with the medical director and division directors on strategic planning and program development.

In 2009, they were promoted to Director, Service Line Heart Institute, where they focused on academics, operations, and research. John developed strategic plans and improved program collaboration and communication.

In 2016, John advanced to the position of Executive Director, Service Line Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. John had overall responsibility for the Smidt Heart Institute, including strategic planning, program development, and day-to-day operations.

Currently, John works at Cedars-Sinai as the Vice President, Cardiovascular Services. John manages the strategic direction of cardiovascular services, advances service line growth, oversees operations, academic programs, and research for the Department of Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery. John also develops and executes alignment initiatives with affiliated physician practices and supports outreach initiatives.

John Oldenquist has a strong educational background in business and management. John earned their MBA from The Johns Hopkins University in 2005, with a focus on Business. Prior to that, they obtained an MS in Institutional Management from The University of Southern Mississippi in 1993 and a BA in Management from the same university in 1990. In addition to their formal degrees, John has also obtained several certifications. These include the Leadership for Senior Executives (LSE) program from Harvard University in 2023, the Cedars-Sinai Fellowship Program from Cedars-Sinai in 2015, and a certification in Health Finance & Management from The Johns Hopkins University in 1999.
