Krish Perumal is the Founder and CTO at Cerence. Krish was previously a Software Engineer at a Stealth Mode Startup from June 2016 to April 2017. Krish was also a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto from September 2014 to January 2016, as well as an Intern at Butterfly Innovations from June 2014 to July 2014. From November 2018 to November 2019, they were a Senior Research Engineer at Samsung Toronto AI Center.
Krish has experience with Python, Tensorflow, Docker, and Amazon Web Services. At the Stealth Mode Startup, they were the first employee after the CEO and CTO. Krish was picked to lead efforts in research and development of computer vision systems. Krish trained and deployed to production an image recognition model for up to 200 categories using deep convolutional neural networks. Krish also trained and deployed to production an object detection system for more than 1000 categories using Faster RCNN (Region-based Convolutional Neural Networks). In addition, they attracted top talent in Machine Learning and eventually helped hire 3 researchers. Krish also built an image annotation team from the ground-up and ensured the generation of high quality training data for input to the computer vision systems.
Krish Perumal has a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor's in Information Systems from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and a Senior Secondary Certification from Mount Carmel School.
