Omar Virguez

Omar Virguez has a diverse work experience in the field of geophysics and sales. Omar started their career at Daqing de Venezuela, C. A. as a Field Geophysicist, where they were involved in gravity and magnetic survey design and data acquisition. Omar then moved to Schlumberger as a Geophysicist, gaining expertise in Petrel and GeoFrame software.

Afterward, they joined PDVSA Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. as an Applied Geophysicist, where they worked on seismic data acquisition projects, including survey design, field work follow-up, and data processing. Following that, they joined Cegal as a Support Geoscientist, providing technical assistance to the sales team, delivering presentations, and maintaining communication between Portfolio and Sales.

Omar's role at Cegal evolved over time, and they served as Technical Sales Team Leader for Blueback in the Middle East, Asia, and Pacific regions, managing account relationships, and conducting short-term consultancies. Omar later became the Regional Sales Manager for the Middle East and Pacific, expanding the company's reach to 18 countries and achieving significant revenue growth.

Omar'smost recent role at Cegal was as the Managing Director, Middle East & Asia, where they were responsible for overseeing all operations in the region, including P&L, sales, operations, finance, and HR/administration. Omar managed financial activities, oversaw HR/administrative functions, and provided professional career development and training to staff in the region.

Omar Virguez obtained a degree in Geophysical Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar, specializing in Geophysics and Seismology, from 2003 to 2008. In 2019, they completed the Microsoft Professional Program in Data Science, earning a certification in Data Science. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications in different areas such as business, artificial intelligence, cloud architecture, and machine learning from institutions like LinkedIn and Microsoft.
