Mikhail Zakharov has worked in the software engineering field for over 20 years. In 2000, they began their career as an Intern at Tepkom (Terkom) State Enterprise, then progressed to Junior Software Developer and Software Engineer roles. In 2001, they took on a contract role as a Junior Software Engineer at Night Bird Software Ltd, developing a CAN bus PCI controller driver for Linux. From 2002 to 2009, they worked as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Drexel University, developing various michrorheological devices and constructing multiple distributed real-time systems for laboratory equipment automation. From 2009 to 2012, they worked as a Research C++ Engineer (Scientific Developer) at the National Institutes of Health (contractor). From 2017 to 2021, they worked at Berkeley Lights, Inc. as a Staff Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer for Instrument Control. In 2011, they took on a volunteer role as a moderator of labviewportal.org. In 2021, they began their current role as a Principal Team Lead (Software) at Celldom, Inc.
Mikhail Zakharov obtained their BS in Physics and Photonics from Saint Petersburg State University between 1996 and 2000. Mikhail then went on to receive their MS in Physics and Photonics from the same university between 2000 and 2002. In 2008, they became a Certified LabVIEW Developer from National Instruments. Finally, they obtained their PhD in biophysics from Drexel University between 2002 and 2009.
