Alex Wall is the vice president of digital communications for the Advocacy team at American Progress. Before joining American Progress, Wall founded and ran a digital strategy consulting firm, helping progressive organizations from across the resistance take the fight to President Trump online.
Previously, Wall served as a digital communications strategist in several roles, including as director of social media on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. His team managed Clinton’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat accounts and developed and executed the campaign’s social engagement strategies around the debates, conventions, and efforts to get out the vote.
Before the campaign, Wall served as former President Barack Obama’s director of online engagement, a role in which he ran the White House social media team; led digital efforts on climate change; and launched the president’s Twitter account. Prior to this role, he served as a social media strategist on President Obama’s re-election campaign, as a communications associate at the Sierra Club, and as a fellow at Environment America.
Wall graduated with a Bachelor of Science in journalism and political science from Northwestern University. Born in New York City, Wall is a die-hard New York sports fan, lover of puns, and national parks enthusiast.
