Sofia Prado-Irwin

Sofia Prado-Irwin, PhD, is a seasoned scientist currently serving as a Staff Scientist at the Center for Biological Diversity since June 2023. Prior to this role, Sofia held the position of Graduate and Adult Programs Coordinator at the Denver Zoological Foundation from June 2022 to July 2023, and worked as a Digital Engagement Assistant at Bird Conservancy of the Rockies from April 2021 to June 2022. Sofia's academic journey includes significant research at Harvard University, where extensive work focused on the ecology and evolution of mainland and island anoles, in addition to roles such as Resident Tutor and Graduate Teaching Fellow. Earlier research experiences were completed at San Francisco State University, investigating microbial communities in salamanders, and at Barnard College, studying honey bee immune mechanisms. Educational qualifications comprise a PhD in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University, an MS in Biology from San Francisco State University, and a BA in Biology from Barnard College.
