Ken Thomas

Ken Thomas is a seasoned educational leader currently serving as the Executive Director of both the Kansas First Amendment Foundation and the Johnson County First Amendment Foundation, where the focus is on educating students about First Amendment issues. With extensive experience in civic education, Ken has coordinated the We the People program for the Center for Civic Education since 1993 and has been involved in professional development initiatives. Ken's previous roles include Social Science Educator at Johnson County Community College and the Blue Valley School District, where teaching encompassed U.S. History, Political Science, and Advanced Placement courses. Ken also founded Winning Directions, Inc., a consulting company focused on personal development and educational programs. Academic credentials include a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a B.S. in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, alongside various post-master’s degree credits.
