Chief Economic Development Officer at Center for Economic Growth

Katie Newcombe is the current Chief Economic Development Officer at Center for Economic Growth. Prior to their current position, Katie was a Senior Economic Developer at National Grid from November 2014 to November 2020. In their role at National Grid, Katie was responsible for direct economic development, business attraction, and expansion efforts in the Capital Region. Katie partnered with Empire State Development, counties, cities, and the Center for Economic Growth to help break down barriers to investment, fund major business attraction efforts, and inform and develop strategic initiatives. Katie also developed and executed programming and policy, site development, and marketing initiatives that drove customer, community, and economic growth across National Grid's territory. Additionally, they led infrastructure discussions with prospects and site selectors on behalf of National Grid, EDOs, and the State. Furthermore, Katie generated and maintained a significant portfolio of grant projects that helped revitalize downtowns and grow New York State’s agricultural, manufacturing, and technology sectors. Lastly, they identified business development opportunities to feed National Grid’s innovation pipeline and created and executed strategic communications opportunities to effectively tell National Grid's story of investment in New York State's communities.

Katie Newcombe has a Master of Business Administration from Penn State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics and Finance from the same school.
