Ed Zimmerman

Ed Zimmerman is a seasoned legal expert and entrepreneur currently serving as Founding Partner at First Close Partners, where the focus is on supporting venture funds led by underrepresented managers. As Co-Founder of The Historic Fund, Zimmerman aids Historically Black Colleges & Universities by facilitating investments in venture capital. Additional roles include Membership on the Board of Advisors for Ada Ventures, Board Member positions at Fisk University and Black Women Talk Tech, and Interim Chair of the Center for Policing Equity. Zimmerman has a longstanding association with Lowenstein Sandler LLP, co-founding its Emerging Companies & Venture Capital practice and providing legal counsel to startups and investment funds. A prolific writer, Zimmerman contributes to Forbes and The Wall Street Journal, with a focus on startups and venture capital. Education includes a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Haverford College.
