Behavioral Health Technician at Centria Healthcare

Maya Carr has a diverse background in education and healthcare. Maya started their career in 2004 as a Long Term-Guest Teacher, where they designed lesson plans, provided tutoring and mentoring, and implemented instructional practices. From 2008 to 2012, Maya worked as an Adult ESL Tutor. In 2013, they joined Blended Literacy, LLC as an Elite Instructor, providing one-on-one and online tutoring services to support reading comprehension, study skills, and writing. In 2014, Maya worked as an Educational Technologist at EAA, supporting student learning through technology. From 2016 to 2019, they worked as an ESL Teacher at EF Education First Teachers, engaging students through humor and interactive activities in an online environment. Maya then transitioned to a Special Education Paraeducator role at Southfield Public Schools in 2017, where they monitored student behavior, assisted with lesson planning, and ensured student safety. Currently, Maya works as a Behavioral Health Technician at Centria Healthcare, providing Applied Behavior Analysis therapy to clients with Autism Spectrum Disorders and developmental disabilities.

Maya Carr obtained a TEFL Certification from the International Teacher Training Organization, completing the Advanced Online TEFL TESOL Certificate Program from 2015 to 2016. Maya also earned a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Valley State University, studying from 2012 to 2016. Additionally, Maya holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. It is unknown when they obtained their TEFL certification or from which institution.
