Oscar de Somer

Oscar De Somer has a diverse work experience in the field of energy trading and data science. Oscar is currently working as the Head of Trading Analytics - Short term asset trading at Centrica Energy since May 2023. Before that, they held the role of Quantitative Trader and Data Scientist at Centrica Business Solutions from July 2017 to May 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Researcher at EnergyVille / VITO from April 2016 to June 2017. Oscar gained early experience as a Data Science Intern at Enertiv from September 2015 to December 2015. Before that, they held the role of Organizer Student Startup Trip Berlin at AFT Leuven from July 2014 to June 2015. Additionally, they worked as a Course Creator at DataCamp from August 2014 to October 2014, where they developed online courses for learning R and statistics.

Oscar De Somer has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, which they obtained from KU Leuven in 2012. Oscar then pursued a Master's degree in Energy from KU Leuven, completing it in 2014. During this time, in 2013, they also participated in an Erasmus program at Technische Universität Berlin, focusing on Energy. In 2014, they furthered their education by obtaining a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from KU Leuven.
