Andre Loes

Andre Loes has a diverse work experience spanning several roles in different companies. In 1994, they served as an Economic Advisor at the Brazil Foreign Trade Department, where they played a crucial role in implementing the Real price stabilization plan. From 1995 to 1997, they worked as the Head of the economic department at the National Association of Investment Banks. Andre then joined Banco Bozano Simonsen as the Chief economist from 1997 to 2000. After that, they worked at Santander Brasil, initially as the Chief economist Brazil and Head of Equity Research from 2000 to 2006, and later as the Managing Director and Head of Equity from 2006 to 2008. Andre then joined HSBC as the Managing Director and Chief economist for Latin America from 2008 to 2015. Following that, they served as the CEO of Fundo Garantidor de Créditos - FGC, the deposit insurer of the Brazilian financial system, from 2016 to 2019, where they managed a team of 40 people and an equity of BRL 80 billion (~USD 15 billion). During this time, they also served as a Member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Deposit Insurers. Andre later became a Partner at KAIRÓS CAPITAL from 2019 to 2021. Currently, they are the Managing Director and Chief economist for Latin America at Morgan Stanley, a position they have held since 2021.

Andre Loes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro from 1983 to 1987. Andre then pursued a Master of Science in Economics at the same university from 1988 to 1990. Andre Loes later obtained a PhD in Economics from Université Paris 13 from 1990 to 1994.
