Eric Eilebrecht has over 25 years of experience in the software engineering industry. Eric began their career in 1997 as a Software Engineer at Microsoft, where they developed backend services for Hotmail and Windows Live. Eric was then promoted to Senior Software Engineer, where they maintained low-level threading, concurrency, and synchronization support in the Common Language Runtime (CLR) and .NET thread pool. Eric was also a key contributor to the design of the Task Parallel Library (TPL), the async/await feature of C# and VB, and the supporting runtime infrastructure.
In 2016, Eric joined Salesforce as a Lead Software Engineer. In 2018, they moved to Microsoft again, this time as a Principal Software Engineer. During their time there, they built the Azure Data Lake Storage Query Acceleration feature, a distributed query engine integrated directly into Azure Storage, for efficient queries across large data sets without an existing index. Eric also worked closely with Microsoft Research to make use of the latest fast parsing techniques, to develop new ways of distributing data parsing and query execution across nodes in a distributed system, and to develop a roadmap for taking advantage of new hardware developments to become even more cost effective in the future. Eric also worked with the Azure security team to develop infrastructure for executing customer queries safely sandboxed within the Azure Storage core.
Currently, Eric is a Senior Software Engineer at Certora, a position they have held since 2022.
Eric Eilebrecht graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
