Alex Tucker has a diverse work experience in engineering roles. They worked as an Environmental Test Engineer 1 at CesiumAstro starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they were a Mechanical Engineer I at ERC from February 2022 to March 2023, where they were responsible for processing, testing, and operating console software for NASA's Artemis 1 spacecraft. They also generated procedures for spacecraft processing and equipment maintenance.
Alex has also served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from August to December 2021, where they fabricated solid oxide fuel cells and conducted performance measurements and investigations. They were also an Engineering Intern at NCPA from May to August 2021.
Earlier in their career, Alex worked as a Senior Project/Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Physics Department at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from August 2020 to May 2021. In this role, they led a team and designed an automated aperture system for a particle accelerator. They also manufactured custom parts for the accelerator. Alex also served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the same department from October 2019 to August 2020.
Lastly, Alex gained experience as a Suspension Team Member at Ragin' Cajun Racing Formula SAE from October 2018 to May 2019.
Alex Tucker attended New Iberia Senior High School from 2013 to 2016, where they obtained a High School Diploma. They went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 2017 to 2021. In August 2021, they obtained the certification of Fundamentals of Engineering - Mechanical from NCEES. Additionally, in December 2019, they earned the CSWA - Mechanical Design certification from the SolidWorks Authorized Training Centre.
