Mónica Carpio is an experienced professional in occupational safety and health with a strong focus on fire safety engineering. Currently serving as the representative of CFIA in the Technical Interinstitutional Committee for the development of technical regulations related to design and construction in Costa Rica, Mónica has also held the position of Occupational Safety and Health Specialist at Tecnológico de Costa Rica since 2014, where responsibilities include lecturing in risk management and developing fire and electrical safety curricula. Previous roles include Risk Assessor and Regional Occupational Health and Safety Engineer for the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social, along with experience as an engineer in occupational safety and health in construction activities at Consorcio de Montajes Industriales. Mónica holds a Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering from Ghent University, University of Edinburgh, and Lund University, as well as degrees in Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene from Tecnológico de Costa Rica.
