Okke van der Wal

Okke van der Wal is an experienced professional in the field of machine learning and data science. Currently serving as the Manager of Machine Learning at Uber since 2019, Okke leads efforts in Anomaly Detection, Personalization, and Fraud Detection, focusing on enhancing payment authorization success and developing a robust anomaly detection framework. In parallel, Okke contributes as a Guest Lecturer at the Centre for Finance, Technology, and Entrepreneurship since May 2021. Prior experience includes serving as a Data Scientist at Blendle, where Okke developed an article recommendation engine and churn models, and as a Supply Chain Analyst at Picnic Technologies, optimizing warehouse algorithms. Educational qualifications include two Master of Science degrees in Statistics and Applied Machine Learning from Tilburg University.
