Sonia Goncalves possesses extensive experience in research and academia, currently serving as a Senior Research Fellow at the Champalimaud Foundation since September 2016, focusing on the development of novel MRI methods for neuroscience and oncology. Previous roles include Associate Researcher at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering and Life Sciences, Assistant Professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Coimbra, and MR Physicist at University Hospital Coimbra, where responsibilities included technical management of MR facilities and optimization of abdominal imaging sequences. Sonia's early career included post-doctoral positions at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam and VU Medisch Centrum, along with a PhD in Biophysics earned at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, and an MSc in Physics from Instituto Superior Técnico.
