Vitaly Balan, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of molecular engineering, bioinformatics, and cancer research. Vitaly is currently the Head of Molecular Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Champalimaud Foundation, where they lead a team in developing cutting-edge molecular tools for advanced cellular and molecular medicinal therapeutics. Prior to that, they worked as a Consultant at Kite Pharma and Refuge Biotechnologies, where they contributed to the development of T cell therapies and gene editing technologies. Vitaly also served as a Manager of Bioinformatics at Guardant Health and as a Senior Scientist at Everon Biosciences, where they gained project management and strategy formation skills. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Assistant Professor at the Karmanos Cancer Institute and Wayne State University, where they taught bioinformatics and conducted research on personalized treatment approaches for cancer patients. Vitaly began their career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Wayne State University, where they focused on discovering new cancer biomarkers. Vitaly Balan also has teaching experience as an Assistant Teacher at Ben Gurion University.
Vitaly Balan, Ph.D. completed their education at multiple institutions. Vitaly obtained their Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Vitaly then pursued a Master's degree in Biochemistry/Microbiology at the same institution.
