Brian O'Higgins has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles in the software quality assurance field. Brian is currently working at Channel Mechanics as a QA Manager, a role they took on in January 2022. Before that, they were a Senior Software QA Engineer at the same company from February 2020 to January 2022.
Prior to joining Channel Mechanics, Brian worked at Planet as a Senior Software QA Tester from October 2019 to February 2020 and as a Software Test Engineer from July 2017 to September 2019. Brian also had a brief role at Dataworks Limited as a Software Validation Engineer from April 2017 to July 2017.
Brian's earlier work experience includes a significant tenure at Avaya, where they held the position of IT QA Test Lead from October 2010 to October 2016. In this role, they led QA testing activities for 30 IT projects, delivering significant cost savings, revenue increases, and process improvements for Avaya.
Before Avaya, Brian worked at Nortel Networks in various roles including Commercial Tools Support Engineer from May 2003 to October 2010, Customer Operations Process Engineer from September 2001 to April 2003, Order Management Process Engineer from January 2000 to August 2001, and Order Validation Engineer from October 1998 to December 1999.
Brian's career began at Dell, where they worked as a Production Engineer from March 1996 to October 1998, focusing on enhancing production line capacity and quality in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Brian O'Higgins has an extensive education history. Brian completed their Leaving Certificate in Production and Process Engineering at Colaiste Chroi Mhuire, An Spideal, Co. Galway in 1989. Subsequently, they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Industrial Engineering and Information Systems at both University of Galway and University College Galway from 1989 to 1994. Brian then went on to obtain an MSc in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Queen's University Belfast in 1995. During this program, their field of study focused on the simulation of a production facility using ARENA Software.
Additionally, Brian has obtained two certifications. In July 2012, they received the ISTQB Foundation Level certification from the ISTQB - International Software Testing Qualifications Board. Later, in November 2019, they obtained the ISTQB Agile Tester certification from the same institution, further enhancing their expertise in software testing.
