Simon O'Brien has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. In 2002, they worked as an Overseas Sales Support Executive and Regional UK Sales Support Executive for P&O Cruises and Princess Cruises. From 2004 to 2007, they co-managed Channel Five's interactive services and oversaw promotional campaigns for radio clients at Greenland Interactive/Telecom Express. Simon then worked as a Business Account Manager at MX Telecom, managing a portfolio of clients and suggesting additional services based on their needs. From 2008 to 2010, they were a Senior Broadcast Account Manager at Telecom Express, where they co-managed the Channel Five account and played a strategic role in setting up and managing televote services for BBC TV shows. From 2011 to 2012, Simon worked for EE as an In Life Manager, where they were involved in marketing and new business campaigns for the launch of a contactless mobile payments device. Simon then joined Spoke as an Interim Senior Broadcast Account Manager for a brief period in 2013. Later that year, they worked as a Commercial Manager at Dialogue. In 2015, they held the role of Marketing Officer at Our Lady’s Convent High School before becoming an Audit & Compliance Manager at Channel 5, where they are currently employed.
Simon O'Brien attended Brookfield Community School from 1984 to 1989, where they did not pursue any degree or field of study. Simon then went on to Fareham Tertiary College from 1989 to 1992, where they completed their A Levels in English Language, French, and Philosophy. Finally, Simon attended the University of Hertfordshire from 1992 to 1995, where they obtained a BA Hons in Humanities with a focus on European History, French, and Linguistics.
