John Mcdonald

John McDonald serves as the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education at Charles Sturt University since March 2020, overseeing academic leadership for five schools and one center, managing approximately 12,000 students and a significant annual income exceeding $75 million. Prior experience includes a tenure as Professor of Sociology and Executive Dean at Federation University Australia from January 2014 to March 2020, where responsibilities involved the formation and leadership of a new faculty. McDonald has held various leadership positions at the University of Ballarat, including Dean of the School of Education and Arts, where achievements included a successful merger of three schools and increased student enrollments. An extensive education background includes a PhD in Sociology from La Trobe University, complemented by a Graduate Diploma in Tertiary Teaching and participation in the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme.
