Shane Capps

Shane Capps is an experienced educator and program leader currently serving as the Director of Partnerships and Development at Charlotte Lab School since August 2018. In this role, Shane is committed to creating an inclusive and challenging educational environment by leveraging the diverse resources of Charlotte. Previously, as the Lab EXPLORE Coordinator, Shane developed a program to help students explore career and college interests through hands-on experiences and community engagement. Prior teaching experience includes serving as an 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher and Lead Teacher for 7th & 8th grades at Community School of Davidson, with a focus on integrating language arts and social studies. Shane's background also includes public health work with the Peace Corps and health promotion initiatives with the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer. Shane holds a BS in Public Health and a BSPH in Health Policy & Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, along with a RALC-MA in Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
