John Bassie

John Bassie has extensive experience in arbitration and mediation. John currently serves as the Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and holds the titles of Chartered Arbitrator, Certified Tutor, and Fellow. In addition, they are the Treasurer of the Jamaican Bar Association and Chairman of the Board for the Dispute Resolution Foundation JA. John has also held roles as a Certified Mediator and Qualified Arbitrator in the Supreme Court of Judicature of Jamaica and the Supreme Court of the State of Florida. Furthermore, they have chaired the ADR Committee for the Jamaican Bar Association and the Legislation Committee of The Jamaican Diaspora. John has also been involved in academia as a lecturer at the University College of the Caribbean.

John Bassie completed a Master of Laws (LLM) degree at Northumbria University in 2002. John also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Bar Vocational Course from the same university in 2003. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Wolverhampton in 2001. In 2004, they acquired a Certificate in Legal Education from Norman Manley Law School. John furthered their education in 2007 with a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from Keble College, Oxford. Additionally, they attained a Certified Cash Manager (CCM) certification from the Association of Financial Professionals in 1994 and a Certified Treasury Professionals (CTP) certification in the same year. John'searlier education includes Archbishop Tennyson's Grammar School and Calabar High School, but no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for these institutions.
