David Carter

Chief Operating Officer at Cheeky Panda

David Carter has over 30 years of experience in operations management, business development, IT, internal audit, and logistics. David began their career in 1989 as an Operations Manager for United Parcel Service, where they contributed to the implementation of BS5750 and ISO 9000 by conducting international operational compliance reviews. In 1995, they moved to Paragon Software Systems as a Principal Implementation Consultant. David then joined LogicaCMG in 2000 as a Business Consultant - Transport and Logistics. In 2003, they became the Head of International Transportation and Supply Chain and Logistics Development Manager for The Body Shop. From 2012 to 2018, they worked at Burberry, first as Director of Fulfilment Logistics and Customs Compliance, and then as Global Director of Transportation. In this role, they secured a 100% increase in capacity by relocating outsourced operations in France to a new facility in the Netherlands, and championed operational turn-around and smooth transition implementing lean management systems. In 2018, they joined World of Books Group as Group Operations Director, where they delivered rapid growth of the business from £53m in 2017 to £100m in 2021 as a key member of the leadership team. David is currently the Chief Operating Officer for The Cheeky Panda, a position they have held since 2022.

David Carter attended Priory School Lewes from 1979 to 1984. David then went on to Kingston University from 1985 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.). During this time, they also attended the University of Konstanz from 1987 to 1988, studying Economics. Finally, they attended The Open University Business School from 1994 to 1998, where they earned an MBA in Business.
