Jim Bottomley

Innovation Manager at CHEO Research Institute

Jim Bottomley has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles within the healthcare industry. Jim worked as an Innovation Manager at the CHEO Research Institute since November 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Business Manager in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at The Ottawa Hospital starting in 2018. From 2003, they were the Business Manager for Obstetrics Gynecology and Newborn Care AFP at the Ottawa Hospital, where they were responsible for implementing and managing the Alternate Funding Plan. Before that, Jim worked at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario as a Project Manager and Innovation Manager, playing a pivotal role in business development and the Ontario Perinatal Surveillance System. Jim started their career at The Ottawa Hospital in 1998, initially working as an Analyst and later as the Regional Emergency Services Coordinator, where they coordinated regional initiatives to address overcrowding in emergency departments.

Jim Bottomley has a diverse education background. In 1984, they attended Ashbury College, though no specific degree or field of study was mentioned. From 1989 to 1993, Jim pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology, General at Queen's University. Later, from 1998 to 2000, they completed a Master's degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management at the University of Ottawa. Lastly, in 2011, Jim obtained a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the Project Management Institute.
