Mathew Kent has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Mathew is currently working as a Research Coordinator at the CHEO Research Institute since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Carleton University from 2015 to 2021, where they held multiple roles including CUSSP Facilitator & EDI Researcher, Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Wellness Programs Ambassador, Residence Bounce Back Facilitator, and Residence Fellow. Mathew also has experience working at the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa as a Peer Support Worker from 2017 to 2020 and at the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity as a Summer Coordinator in 2017. Additionally, they had a brief internship as an Economic Development and Tourism Intern at the Municipality of Marmora and Lake in 2013. Overall, Mathew's work experience demonstrates their dedication to research, advocacy, and supporting marginalized communities.
Mathew Kent has a strong educational background in neuroscience and mental health. Mathew completed their Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health at Carleton University from 2013 to 2017. After their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Neuroscience at the same institution, starting in 2017 and is currently still enrolled.
Prior to their university education, Mathew earned their Ontario Secondary School Diploma from Centre Hastings Secondary School, where they completed their secondary education from 2009 to 2013.
Looking into the future, Mathew has plans to continue their education at the University of Prince Edward Island, where they will pursue a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree in Clinical Psychology from 2022 to 2026.
In addition to their academic achievements, Mathew has obtained several certifications related to mental health and crisis intervention. Mathew completed the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) in May 2017, safeTALK training in September 2016, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C in June 2015, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training in February 2015.
