Denise Leonard has over 25 years of work experience in the healthcare industry. Denise currently works at Cheshire Ireland as the Head of Clinical Services, where they are responsible for leading the nursing and care team, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, and promoting continuous professional development. Prior to this role, they served as the Acting Head of Clinical Services and a Clinical Partner at the same organization.

Denise has also worked as a Practice Nurse at Dr. Paul O' Sullivan and Dr. John Carey, where they provided various medical services such as chronic disease management, venepuncture, smear taking, wound management, and vaccinations administration. Denise's career started at St. Georges Hospital and Tyrone County Hospital as a Staff Nurse, where they provided patient care.

Denise Leonard's education history begins in 1989 when they attended the Belfast College of Nursing - Royal Victoria Hospital. Denise completed a Level 1 program in Integrated General & Sick Children's Nursing, which lasted until 1993. Following this, they attended Queen's University Belfast from 1997 to 2000 and obtained an Advanced Diploma in Specialist Practice in Neonatal Nursing.

In 2000, Denise enrolled at The University of Manchester and pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Child Health Nursing, which they completed in 2002. Denise then went on to the University of Ulster and earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Community Nursing Education (PGCE) in 2003, specializing in Community Children's Nursing.

Continuing their education at the University of Ulster, Denise completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing, with a focus on becoming a Nurse Practitioner, from 2003 to 2005. Finally, in 2006-2007, they attended the University of Ulster once again and obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Nurse Prescribing.

In addition to their formal education, Denise Leonard has acquired further certifications. In August 2016, they obtained a Fetac Level 6 certification in Managing People from an institution called Fetac. Furthermore, in June 2016, they received the European Certificate in Essential Palliative Care from Princess Alice Hospice.
