Charlotte Smith has a diverse work experience in the field of conservation education and engagement. Charlotte is currently serving as the Director of Conservation Education at Chester Zoo since December 2021. Prior to this role, they were the Head of Conservation Education and Engagement at Chester Zoo from June 2014 to November 2021.
Before joining Chester Zoo, Charlotte worked at the Imperial War Museum as the Head of Learning & Access, Imperial War Museum North, from January 2008 to May 2014. Prior to that, they served as the Community Development Officer at the MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry) from January 2003 to January 2008.
Charlotte also gained experience as an Education Officer at The World of Glass from July 2001 to December 2002 and as a Duty Officer and Education Facilitator at Stockport MBC Heritage Services from December 1999 to July 2001.
Charlotte Smith attended The University of Manchester from 1995 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Italian Studies. Charlotte then pursued further education at The University of Salford from 1999 to 2000, earning a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Heritage Studies.
