Grant Akata Jr. has a diverse work experience in finance, accounting, and taxation. Grant started their career at TotalEnergies as a Corporate Finance Analyst, where they assisted in managing the invoicing process, performed finance functions using SAP software, and provided support in the preparation and analysis of management accounting information. Later, they joined KPMG and held various roles, including Associate, Senior Adviser, and Manager. At KPMG, they supported multinational corporations and local conglomerates with tax, finance, and business advisory services in sectors such as Energy, Consumer Markets, Telecommunications, and Financial Services. Grant provided guidance on accounting and tax treatment of transactions and contributed to statutory audits, financial statements, and tax provisioning. Currently, they are the Head of Corporate Reporting/Taxation - Finance at Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group. In this role, they advise management on business, finance, and tax requirements, ensures compliance, and provides guidance on accounting and tax treatment.

Grant Akata Jr. obtained their Bachelor's degree in Economics from Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Nigeria, from 2001 to 2005. Grant then pursued a Master's degree in Economics & Finance from the University of Leeds from 2007 to 2008. In 2019, Grant completed an Executive Education Leadership Course at the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University. Additionally, they obtained various certifications, including becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. Grant also became an Associate Member of CITN and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in 2011 and 2009, respectively.
