Jie Qi

Jie Qi is the CEO and Co-Founder of Chibitronics, a position held since June 2014. In addition, Jie served as a Project Assistant Professor at The University of Tokyo from January 2019 to April 2021, focusing on the integration of electronics with books as part of the ERATO project in the Kawahara Lab. Furthermore, Jie was a Fellow at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University from September 2017 to August 2019, where research centered on open approaches to invention and entrepreneurship, resulting in the creation of Patentpandas. Prior to these roles, Jie worked as a Research Assistant at the MIT Media Lab from 2010 until August 2017. Jie earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Media Arts and Sciences and a Master of Science in Media Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia Engineering.
