Carissa Ilg's work experience begins in 2002 as a Wilderness Leader at Wilderness Ventures. Carissa then worked as an Administrative Coordinator at Sheridan Road Medical Associates from September to December 2002. In 2003, they served as an Environmental Educator and Naturalist at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies from June to September, and as a Field Instructor at Multnomah Education Service District from September to November. From 2004 to 2006, Carissa worked as a Teenage Program Coordinator at the Notebaert Nature Museum. In 2007, they served as a Regional Planning Intern at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for three months. Carissa joined Green Dream Group in December 2010 as the Manager of Operations, a role they held until March 2013. Carissa then became a Board of Directors member at Slow Food Chicago starting in November 2012. Carissa Ilg held two positions at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Their first role was Student Field Trip Programs Coordinator from July 2013 to September 2014, and they later became the Manager of Certificate Programs from October 2014 onwards.
Carissa Ilg obtained their Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Geology from Colorado College between 1998 and 2002. Carissa then pursued a Master of Science in Environmental Science with a field of study in Applied Ecology at Indiana University Bloomington from 2006 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, Carissa also attended The School for Field Studies in 2001, although the details regarding their degree and field of study were not provided.
